CBBI Entrepreneurs Participate in Habitat’s Women Build

On Friday, May 8th, several female entrepreneurs from the Cleveland Bradley Business Incubator participated in the 2015 Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build event.  The ladies were asked to volunteer four hours of their time on the construction of the home for Ms. Vicki Walker and her family.

The ladies spent the morning hours placing the final coat of paint to the interior walls of the house.   Female business owners participating in the event were Carrie Walls, Amaze Behavior Therapy; Brenda Gossett, Center for Wellness and Mobility; Mandi Choate, HaHa Shirts and Apparel; Stacy Dunn, Simon J Marketing; Wanda Pico, SerendipityCB; Sharon Burgess, Pop’s Ulpolstery; and Dana Teasley, Local Strategies.  Photos of the day’s event were taken by CBIC’s own Greg Conway, owner of Legendary Images.

Cleveland Bradley Innovation Center Businesses Featured at Green Day Event

On Saturday, April 11, 2015, Cleveland State Community College will host their annual environmental awareness event, “It’s All About the Green,” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the school gymnasium.  This year, the event will include a special opportunity to visit with the businesses housed at the Cleveland/Bradley Innovation Center.  CBIC is located at the north end of Cleveland States campus and will be open for business to allow event attendees an opportunity to discover the many wonderful products and services these businesses provide.

Attendees to the event will have a chance to visit with five unique businesses housed at CBIC.  In Suite 1030, Kim Currin Creations specializes in custom glass artwork.  Kim uses recycled glass in many of her pieces and her artistic talents are evident with every piece.

In Suite 1050, SerendipityCB features a line of all natural body products and therapeutic massage.  Owner Cheryl Barker, is a licensed massage therapist and esthetician and offers several different types of massages, skin care and waxing services.

If spring time has you wanting to make improvements to your physical condition, Alcatraz Fitness in Suite 1040 has the program just for you.  Visit with Dave Thompson, owner, to discuss your specific needs and goals and he can help design a program to meet your fitness needs.

The marvelous smell of hickory wood being smoked will be coming from G’Daddy’s BBQ in Suite 1060.  G’Daddy’s specializes in pulled pork, ribs, and chicken and offers catering for your family gathering or special events.  Go by and sample the wonderful foods Anthony and Karen Dunn cook up daily.

In Suite 1080, Greg Conway, owner of Legendary Images will be open to discuss all your photography needs.  From family portraits to special occasions, Greg is a very talented and seasoned professional photographer and will capture those moments for you to cherish for a lifetime.

Open House at Cleveland Bradley Innovation Center

Small Business Saturday is November 30th

Small business has long been the backbone of our country, as well as, crucial to our local communities. Small Business Saturday, celebrated on the Saturday after Thanksgiving is a day specifically dedicated to supporting small business.  It has grown into a movement that millions of individuals, businesses, and communities have embraced nationwide.

Small Business Saturday is a national effort to help independently owned merchants gain more exposure during one of the biggest shopping weekends of the year.   This year’s big event falls on Saturday, November 30.

At the Cleveland Bradley Innovation Center, patrons can have the opportunity of visiting three different businesses for their shopping pleasure.  Serendipity CB and Kim Currin Creations will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and G-Daddy’s BBQ will be hosting an open house from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m.   The Cleveland Bradley Innovation Center is located at 3575 Adkisson Drive (on the campus of Cleveland State Community College) in Cleveland, TN.

Open House and Holiday Preview Event at the Cleveland Bradley Innovation Center

This Thursday night, November 14th, two businesses at the Cleveland Bradley Innovation Center will be hosting a Pre-Holiday Open House and Preview Show.  The event is scheduled from 5 – 8 p.m and is open to the public.

Cheryl Barker, owner of Serendipity CB will be having an Open House event.  Serendipity CB is located in Suite 1050.  Even if your Christmas shopping is done, you can still find some quality items for stocking stuffers.

Kim Currin Creations, located in Suite 1030 will host an informal Holiday Preview Show.  CBBI and Cleveland State employees are welcome to stop by at their leisure throughout the afternoon. There will be refreshments, registration for door prizes and special prices on a variety of in-stock items. Upcoming Tax Seminars for Incubator Tenants

The Cleveland Bradley Business Incubator will be hosting two tax seminars during the month of November in the Incubator conference room.  Both classes are being taught by Incubator tenant Scott Goble, CPA owner of Sound Accounting and will begin at 11:30 a.m. The classes are approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours long.  Lunch is being provided.  Please RSVP to Hurley Buff if you plan to attend.

On Wednesday, November 6th,  Mr. Goble will present Tax Obligations for Small Business.   This class provides an overview of the various types of federal and Tennessee taxes imposed on small businesses.  In addition, the class provides participants with real-world (and legal) methods for minimizing and , in some cases, totally avoiding these taxes.

On Wednesday, November 20th, Mr. Goble will present Year-End Tax Planning.  This class provides a brief overview of recent changes to the tax laws and practical planning ideas for reducing one’s overall income tax bill.

These classes are being provides to CBBI and CBIC tenants through the generous support of USDA Rural Development: Rural Business Enterprise Grant.
